- Use quality massage oil. Check first if the person you are massaging has any allergies to massage oils and creams.
- Keep your person warm. Many therapists will cover you with warm towels whilst massaging your body.
- Have a firm surface to massage the person on. Most beds are too soft.
- When using massage oil, warm the oil first.
- Have some nice relaxing music on while you give a massage.
- Turn off all phones whilst massaging.
- Massage in a darkened room. Candles and/or subdued lighting are best.
- When massaging, make sure you include the person's hands and feet.
- Vary your massage strokes. Use long strokes up and down the body.
- As well as long strokes, also move your hands in a circular motion whilst massaging the body.
